Questions
Layer. Mix. Shine. Everything else you might want to know.
What is Prismle?
Prismle is a tiny puzzle about light. A stained-glass window is missing its glass. You set coloured panes in it, and the sunlight that falls through throws coloured light on the floor below. Make that light match the pattern inlaid in the floor and the window is mended.
How do I play?
Drag a pane from the tray into the window, or tap it and then tap where it should go. Every floor tile has a small inlaid shape in the colour it should have; when the light on a tile is right, the inlay disappears. Use every pane. Panes never turn, so it is all about where each one goes. In the daily window and from Level 7 on, the light shows only once a pane is set, so read the floor first: a white tile has no glass above it.
How do the colours mix?
Glass only lets its own colours through. Sunlight has three parts, shown as ○ (red), □ (green) and △ (blue). Yellow glass lets ○□ through, blue □△ and pink ○△. Where panes overlap, only the parts they share get through: yellow over blue leaves □, green light; yellow over pink leaves red; blue over pink leaves violet; all three together leave the floor dark. A gap without glass lets plain white sunlight through. Later levels add red and violet glass, which let one part through.
Is there always a solution?
Always exactly one. Every window is checked by a solver when it is made, and every pane has one right place. If you are stuck, Hint sets one pane where it belongs.
What is the daily window?
Every day there is one new window, the same for everyone. A new day starts at midnight, your local time. Monday is gentle; the windows grow through the week up to the big Sunday window. Light it every day to keep your streak.
What are the levels?
Levels are there to keep playing after the daily: the first ones teach the colours one by one, and after that they go on and on, in arched, pointed, round, twin and diamond windows, some of them symmetric like real stained glass. Everyone's Level 12 is the same Level 12.
How do moves, par and stars work?
Every time you set a pane in a new place is a move. Par is one move per pane, so a perfect window takes exactly as many moves as it has panes. Three stars for par, two for up to two moves more, one otherwise; each hint costs a star.
Why does the light change colour during the day?
Prismle's sunlight follows your clock: cool in the morning, neutral at noon, golden-cream in the evening and moonlight at night. It only changes the colour of the light, never the puzzle, so the daily is the same for everyone. You can turn it off in the menu.
Can I play if I am colour-blind?
Yes. Turn on Colour marks in the menu and every pane and every window square shows ○ □ △: the pattern's parts as outlines, the light's parts filled in. You can solve every window with the marks alone. They also switch on by themselves when your system asks for more contrast.
Can I play with a keyboard?
Yes. Tab to a pane and press Enter to pick it up (or press its number, 1 to 9), move it with the arrow keys and press Enter to set it. Escape puts it back, Delete returns a set pane to the tray, U or Ctrl+Z undoes and N goes to the next level.
How do I share my result?
Press Share after you light the daily window. Prismle makes a picture of today's lit window with your stars, moves and time, to share, copy or save, plus a short line of text. The pattern is the same for everyone, so it gives nothing away: the puzzle is where the glass goes.
Is Prismle free?
Yes. There are no ads, no account and no in-app purchases.
Can I install Prismle or play offline?
Yes. On a computer, choose Install in the address bar of Edge or Chrome, or Install Prismle in the menu, and Prismle opens in its own window. On a phone, choose Add to Home screen in Chrome, or Share and then Add to Home Screen in Safari. After the first visit it works without internet. On a computer you can also pop it out into a small window that stays on top.
Which languages does Prismle speak?
English, Polski, Deutsch and Español. It picks your browser's language, and you can change it in the menu, together with a light or dark theme, the sound and the colour marks.
Does Prismle collect my data?
No. Your progress and settings stay on your device and are never sent anywhere. There are no cookies; we only count visits, anonymously, with Cloudflare Web Analytics. The privacy page explains the details. Read the privacy page.
